5 favorite and least favorite celebrity fashion looks from this week 04/24
Happy Easter everyone! Before I head over to my parent’s house for dinner, here are my five favorite, and five least favorite celebrity fashion looks from this past week. Let me know if you agree or disagree. THE BEST: 5. Scarlett Johansson At a cocktail and shopping benefit for the Children’s Defense Fund in Santa Monica, CA Scarlett worked the red carpet in this gorgeous red dress. The accessories are spot on, as is the hair and makeup. 4. Kristin Cavallari Since today is Easter I had to give attention to the floral print, strapless dress by Parker that Kristin wore to Greenzy’s 1st Annual Family Earth Day Celebration on Friday. Spring (and Easter) is always a good time for florals! 3. Halle Berry The fuchsia Roberto Cavalli dress Halle rocked at the Silver Rose Awards Gala earlier in the week is simply stunning. Seriously, that thing fits her like a glove! 2. Fergie The Black Eyed Peas stopped by the MTV World Stage, and although I have no clue who designed it, I absolutely love Fergie’s dress. 1. Jennifer Hudson Jennifer has been promoting her new album in the UK, and I totally love this long blue fitted dress she was spotted in. The pose is hot, and so are the the python and suede platform booties by Christian Louboutin. THE WORST: 5. Jennifer Lopez Everyone’s favorite American Idol judge showed off her abs at an event to promote her new album earlier in the week. The black trousers are by Tibi and the blazer is Topshop. Honestly though, I’m not really feeling it …
5 favorite and least favorite celebrity fashion looks from this week 03/20
Yesterday I saw the Lord Of The Dance 3D movie, I only went because my father wanted to, and as you might expect I fell asleep a couple of times. I was impressed by some of the costumes the performers wore, however I don’t get why at one point all of the female dancers were only wearing their underwear, but there wasn’t one single shirtless male dancer to be seen. Next time, if you want this movie to do better in the box office then I suggest some man candy to get the gay dollar. Anyways, here are my five favorite and least favorite celebrity fashion looks from this past week. THE BEST: 5. Alexa Chung Alexa looked casual yet trendy in a vintage top paired with skinny maroon jeans by Topshop at the the a GQ Style UK party in London. She accessorized with a cute quilted Chanel bag. 4. Naya Rivera At the Paleyfest 2011 Presents Glee event earlier this week Naya rocking this incredible look. Loving the high waisted American Apparel pants, and the polka dot scarf, but the part that totally wins it for me are those bright turquoise heels! 3. Nicky Hilton My favorite Hilton sister was at the launch party of the UK Style by French Connection event earlier in the week and she wore this sexy sequined cheetah dress from the label. Metallic meets animal print, I like it! 2. Claire Danes At the MCC Theater 25th Anniversary Gala in NYC Claire wore this super chic houndstooth long sleeve dress. I totally can’t pronounce the name of the designer, but this shit is hot! 1. Michelle …

Here are my five favorite, and five least favorite celebrity fashion looks from the past week. I also take a minute to ponder why people are so rude in their comments. It seems rather pointless to me, because I always just delete douchey comments. THE WORST: 5. Whitney Port The reality star wore a look from her own Whitney Eve Spring 2011 collection to an event in Los Angeles hosted by Special K. Not only does the box of cereal she’s posing with clash with her look, but I’m not feeling the leopard print flats at all. 4. Nicki Minaj Nicky shows up on my list pretty much every other week, but this time it is because of the ugly pink wig she wore out in London a few days ago. Seriously, it looks like she dipped her head in a cotton candy machine. 3. Ciara The singer was spotted court-side at a Lakers game a week ago, and although her white top and jeans are cute, the Christian Louboutin boots are just ugly. They kinda remind me of road kill, and that’s definitely not hot. 2. Olivia Munn Although she’s wearing my favorite color combination, blue and black, I’m totally not feeling this Mason dress Olivia wore a few days ago. What’s going on with the top? Those points are weird, however I do like the brown booties by Elizabeth and James. 1. Camilla Belle Oh Camilla, honey, no. You’ve clearly got a hot body, and awesome abs, but this Jason Wu look is definitely not appropriate for a red carpet premier. The usually fashionable Camilla Belle definitely takes the top spot in my …
5 favorite and least favorite celebrity fashion looks from this week 02/27
The other day at the gym I had an experience where I totally looked like an ass hole, but hey, I wasn’t about to let my machine reset. It takes a good minute and a half to enter your height and weight into the elliptical, and I just didn’t have any time to spare. Oh, and I also go over my five favorite and least favorite celebrity fashion looks from the week. THE BEST: 5. Alexa Chung Alexa Chung posed for photographers before the Burberry show in London wearing this blue knitted sweater by Burberry with black leather pants and lace up boots by Topshop. So cute, and I especially love her bright teal purse, also by Burberry. 4. Demi Moore At the 13th Annual Costumer Designers Guild Awards Demi rocked this electric blue Vivienne Westwood gown. I’m especially loving her hair, that sloppy, Ke$ha inspired fishtail braid is awesome, and it compliments the dress perfectly. 3. Michelle Trachtenberg Michelle totally owned the red carpet at the Hollywood Domino 4th Annual Gala earlier this week. The Edition by Georges Chakra Fall 2010 dress is incredible! The black lace bodice is perfection, and the white skirt is so minimal yet fashion forward. 2. Elizabeth Banks My top two looks this week were both from the opening of the Tom Ford Beverly Hills Flagship Store. First up is Elizabeth Banks who actually wore a Versace dress to the event. I’m absolutely infatuated with the cutouts on this dress! So flirty and chic. 1. Milla Jovovich Also at the Tom Ford opening in Beverly Hills, Milla …

5 favorite and least favorite celebrity fashion looks from the 2011 Golden Globe Awards
Here are my five favorite, and five least favorite looks from the red carpet at tonight’s Golden Globes Awards. Do you agree or disagree? THE BEST: 5. Megan Fox Her Armani evening grown was hot, especially the asymmetrical Swarovski adorned strap. She also wore Lorraine Schwartz jewelry, a Roger Vivier clutch and Brian Atwood shoes. 4. Helena Bonham Carter I was wondering what type of crazy ass dress Helena would choose for the Golden Globes and she certainly didn’t disappoint. I don’t know who it’s by, but I think it’s perfection. Oh, and the mismatching shoes are just… Well, kick ass! 3. Lea Michele I love the pink one shouldered ruffled gown she wore from the Oscar de la Renta Spring 2011 collection. Lea accessorized Christian Louboutin heels, and jewelry by Lorraine Schwartz. 2. Anne Hathaway Wow. Her backless, puff sleeve Armani gown is breath taking. So gorgeous. Super classy yet sexy at the same time. 1. Jennifer Love Hewitt Definitely my favorite look from the Golden Globe red carpet. The ice blue Romona Keveza dress is flawless, and I am just crazy about the sculpted top. THE WORST: 5. Mandy Moore Mandy wore Monique Lhuillier with Brian Atwood shoes and a Jimmy Choo bag. It is me, or does she look like she’s going to a high school prom? 4. Christina Aguilera The girl is definitely carrying a little extra meat on her bones lately, and this Zuhair Murad lace-overlay gown does nothing to flatter her new curves. 3. Catherine Zeta-Jones She looks like a friggen …

Here is my first video blog of the new year! In addition to going over my five favorite, and least favorite celebrity fashion looks, I also explain my top three resolutions for 2011. Let me know what your favorite looks were via Twitter (@MathewGuiver) and check out my blog for more videos and fashion news www.mathewguiver.com THE BEST 5. Kirsten Dunst Kirsten was one of many celebrities that rung in the New Year at the Marquee Nightclub in Las Vegas. She celebrated in style with this all white ensemble. Super cute, and I love the red nail polish too! 4. Kelly Rowland Kelly worked the red carpet outside of LeBron James’ birthday party at Coco DeVille lounge in Miami earlier this week. Her black dress was revealing but classy, and I totally love how she accessorized. Especially the metallic strappy heels. 3. Jennifer Hudson Damn, JHud is looking amazing lately. You can’t deny it. She performed on Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve in this red, one sleeved dress and a hot pair of Louboutin heels. 2. Jennifer Lopez Like I mentioned on my blog, Jennifer Lopez attended The Beatles Love by Cirque du Soleil at The Mirage in Las Vegas, Nevada wearing this gorgeous Herve Leger sequined dress. 1. Beyonce I totally love the white and black dress she wore when she joined Jay-Z on state in Las Veags on New Years Eve. Very minimal, which I love, but it’s definitely not boring! THE WORST: 5. John Mayer At first I thought it was Johnny Depp, but it turns out John Mayer was just trying …
5 favorite and least favorite celebrity fashion looks from this week 01/09
This week was the People’s Choice Awards, so I decided to break out my spiked and studded shoes for my new video blog. What do you think? Here are my five favorite, and five least favorite celebrity fashion looks from the past week. Do you agree or disagree with my list? Let me know via Twitter (@MathewGuiver) and check out my blog for more videos and fashion news www.mathewguiver.com THE WORST 5. Taylor Swift At the People’s Choice Awards Taylor wore another boring dress down the red carpet. Not only was her J. Mendel Spring 2011 dress completely predictable, but the color really doesn’t go well with Taylor’s skin tone at all. 4. Jennifer Connelly She wore this hideous Lanvin gown to the premier of The Dilemma in Chicago. It looks like a dark gray toga, seriously. And she looks miserable in it. 3. Drew Barrymore Wow, too much orange honey. At the CoverGirl anniversary party Drew wore this atrocious Jill Sander gown. Maybe it would have worked with different styling, but with her heavy makeup she’s looking very clown esque in this outfit. 2. Katy Perry I usually love her style, but the Besty Johnson Spring 2011 Katy wore to the People’s Choice Awards isn’t doing anything for me. It’s way too busy, and I don’t like the magenta and turquoise combination at all. Sooo 2006. 1. Vanessa Williams Maybe I’m just used to seeing Wilhelmina’s incredible style on reruns of Ugly Betty, but Tadashi Shoji dress is a mess on Vanessa in my opinion. It’s doing nothing for her body, and the …

Nightlife has a special place in the heart of Los Angeles. This city offers one of the most diverse arrays of bars and clubs. LA is one of the busiest cities where one slaves away as a soldier all day working the 9-5 shift and then whisks away the nights and weekends in its vast nightlife scene. The Los Angeles nightlife scene is packed with something for everyone’s taste; there are a plethora of bars and clubs up and down the streets of Hollywood, martini bars in Westwood, rooftop lounges in the Valley, thumping celebrity havens all throughout, and sports bars and beach lounges in Santa Monica and all the beach cities. Most runs at LA hot spots are short-lived. They are, however, wild and beg a story to be told. The nightlife scene is ever changing and you never know what the next big place will be.
n the LA nightlife scene, the House of Blues is one of the heavyweight champs. Everything gets equal play on the House of Blues stage from soul and funk, to punk and ska, to the namesake blues and rock. Also, the House of Blues Hollywood serves up down home bar grub in a quasi-southern tradition and on Sundays does a famous gospel brunch complete with a choir backing up your breakfast dining. For a Los Angeles bar and live music club, the House of Blues gets packed for shows and often the best seats are taken long before the opening band takes the stage.
The entrepreneurs behind Avalon nightclub in Hollywood gave the old Hollywood Palace and extreme makeover morphing the classic space into one of the hippest live music and dance clubs in the Los Angeles area. The hottest national touring acts headline the stage at Avalon, but this hipster LA nightlife playground isn’t done once the shows let out. When the live music at Avalon ends, renowned DJs man the decks and this Hollywood nightclub turns into one of the hottest dance venues around pumping out house and techno beats until the sun comes up.
